The United States is the world\u2019s biggest pest. It doesn\u2019t matter where you live or what you do, the US will find\u00a0some excuse to poke its nose in your business and make your life miserable. That\u2019s why the US has so many enemies, because its the world\u2019s biggest budinski. The people in Washington just can\u2019t stand the idea\u00a0 that someone, somewhere might be having a normal, happy life without getting bombed to death in\u00a0drone attack or shunted off to some black site where the CIA can rip out their fingernails\u00a0or\u00a0beat them black and blue. That\u2019s what this whole global war on terror-thing is all about. It\u2019s\u00a0about sticking your big fat nose in other people\u2019s business 24-7. Some people just get a\u00a0kick out of that. Why?\u00a0 Because they\u2019re obnoxious people, that\u2019s why. Like the\u00a0drunk who\u00a0shows up at\u00a0your dinner party\u00a0and slops red wine all over\u00a0the rug. That\u2019s the US in a nutshell, a first-rate pain-in-the-ass.<\/p>\n
Everyone knows this is true, even the flag wavers. They know we shouldn\u2019t be in Afghanistan or Iraq or Somalia or Yemen or wherever. We just go to be annoying, because that\u2019s who we are, The Irritating States of America.<\/p>\n
I get tired of leftist writers droning on and on about the Empire-this and the Superpower-that. It\u2019s all baloney, and it\u00a0misses the point. In fact, it dignifies US behavior as though it was all part of some grand plan. It\u2019s not. There is no plan. The plan is to hector people until they can\u2019t stand it anymore. That\u2019s not really a plan at all. It\u2019s\u00a0just being a pest. It\u2019s like the\u00a0brat who keeps kicking the back of your seat\u00a0when your flying across country\u00a0or the\u00a0wasp\u00a0that shows up\u00a0at the company picnic. Are you going to tell me the wasp has a plan? No. The wasp has no plan and neither does the US. The US is just doing what it does best; making a first class nuisance of itself.<\/p>\n
So now the government is going to shutdown, right? And all the liberal pundits\u00a0are wringing their hands\u00a0moaning that\u00a0the\u00a0world\u2019s going to\u00a0come to an end\u00a0because\u00a0this lumbering, annoying giant\u00a0is going on holiday. Is that it?<\/p>\n
Let me tell you something: The world needs a little breather from the US, you know, nothing permanent, just a five or ten year sabbatical so we can all\u00a0chill out\u00a0and catch our breath.\u00a0Does that sound\u00a0so bad?\u00a0\u00a0I mean, wouldn\u2019t\u00a0it be nice to\u00a0get a\u00a0break from all the killing, the spying, and the meddling. \u00a0\u00a0Can you imagine that? Can you imagine what life on this planet would be like if you could just snap your fingers and \u201cpoof\u201d, the US\u00a0vanished for a couple years?<\/p>\n
Who knows, there might even\u00a0be some cooperation on the big issues, like global warming, or environmental destruction or global pandemics.\u00a0 Then again, maybe there wouldn\u2019t be. Maybe relations between countries would be as fractious as they are today. Either way, things would be a lot\u00a0better than they are\u00a0now because there\u2019d be a heckuva lot less killing, a heckuva lot less maiming and\u00a0a heckuva lot less troublemaking. Because the world\u2019s biggest pest would be out of the picture.<\/p>\n
Call me crazy, but I can\u2019t see the downside to that.<\/p>\n
